ClickUp Brain: What the AI Actually Does

ClickUp Brain and Everything AI explained: features, limits, and whether it's worth paying for.

ClickUp Brain is ClickUp's AI layer — an assistant that lives inside your workspace and can read your tasks, docs, and (with your permission) connected tools. It's not magic, and it's not free beyond a trial taste. Here's what it actually does and what it costs.

What ClickUp Brain can do

  • Summarize. Turn a 60-comment thread or a long doc into a few bullet points.
  • Write. Draft task descriptions, docs, and updates from a short prompt.
  • Turn notes into tasks. After a meeting, convert action items into assigned tasks with due dates.
  • Answer questions. Ask "what's blocked this week?" or "summarize this project's status" and get an answer grounded in your workspace.
  • Search everything. Enterprise Search looks across ClickUp and connected apps so you're not hunting through tabs.
  • Take notes. The AI Notetaker can join meetings, transcribe, and file action items.

The two AI packages

As published on clickup.com/pricing:

  • Brain — $9 per user/month (annual). Unlimited Brain assistant and agents, unlimited AI chat across models like Claude, ChatGPT, and Gemini, unlimited AI writing, and workspace enterprise search.
  • Everything AI — $28 per user/month (annual). Everything in Brain plus the full agentic suite: unlimited AI notetaker, image generation, AI fields, AI automations and dashboards, and more Super Agent usage.

There's also a credit system (AI Super Credits) behind the heavier agentic features — each plan includes a monthly allowance, and you can buy more. The details are on the pricing page.

Is it worth paying for?

Honest take: the free trial usage is enough to learn whether your team will actually use it. Teams drowning in meeting notes and status updates tend to get the most value from summarization and the notetaker. If your work is mostly simple task lists, the AI won't change your life — the core platform will.

One caution: like all AI tools, Brain can get things wrong. Treat its summaries as a starting point and verify anything important against the underlying tasks. And remember it's a separate line item — it doesn't come bundled with Unlimited or Business.
